Uncanny Art Contest

Content Requirements

General Content Guidelines:

• Submissions must be free from obscenity, explicit sexual material, nudity, profanity, graphic violence, and incitement to violence.
• Artwork should not contain material that is abusive, inflammatory, denigrating, or disrespectful to any groups, individuals, institutions, or the Contest Sponsors.
• All entries must be suitable for a public audience.

Originality and Copyright:

• Each submission must be the original work of the contestant and not previously published or distributed in any form.
• Artwork must not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property, privacy, publicity rights, or any other legal or moral rights.
• There is no allowance for the use of copyrighted material under “fair use” in this contest.
• Use of third-party materials (images, text) not owned by the contestant is prohibited unless explicit permission has been granted.

Rights and Permissions:

• If your artwork includes images or likenesses of individuals, you must have obtained written consent from them (or their legal guardians) for their image to be used.
• Contestants must be able to provide proof of all necessary rights, licenses, consents, and permissions for used materials upon request.
• Lack of necessary rights, licenses, consents, and permissions may result in disqualification at the discretion of the Contest Sponsors.

Disqualification and Resolution of Disputes:

• Contest Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any submission that does not meet these requirements or that contradicts the spirit of the contest rules.
• In case of any disputes regarding content compliance, interpretation of rules, or other contest-related issues, the Contest Sponsors have the exclusive right to resolve such matters.

Technical Format Requirements

• The artwork must be sized 11”x 17” (3300 pixels x 5100 pixels), 300dpi, and in JPEG or PNG format. No visible watermarks, signatures, or personally identifiable information.
• Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) art generators is strictly prohibited. 

Eligibility

• Open to all fans of The Uncanny Experience over the age of 18. 
• Employees or affiliates of Giant Size Productions and The Uncanny Experience and their immediate family members are not eligible.
• Participants must provide accurate information for eligibility and prize awarding.

Selection of Winners

• Entries will be pre-screened for compliance.
• Judging will be conducted by The Giant Size Productions team.
• Winners will be contacted via the email provided during registration by March 31st, 2024. 

Use of Submissions

•  By participating in this contest, contestants agree that submitted artwork may be used by Giant Size Productions for promotional purposes. This includes posting on social media platforms and potentially printing the artwork for display at The Uncanny Experience event.
• While Giant Size Productions reserves the right to use the artwork as described, due credit will be given to artists wherever their work is displayed or used.

Prize

• The winner will receive a school uniform cardigan, a general admission ticket to The Uncanny Experience 2024, and a ticket to the Saturday night afterparty.
• The winning artwork may be featured in The Uncanny Experience promotional materials.

Liability and Rights

Endorsement and Liability:

• Contest Sponsors do not endorse any submissions or the messages expressed within.
• Contest Sponsors expressly disclaim any liability in connection with the submitted artwork, including any disputes related to the submission.

Intellectual Property:

• Contest and its sponsors strictly prohibit any copyright-infringing activities. Any submission violating another party’s intellectual property rights will be disqualified.
• Contestants retain ownership of their original work. The submission remains the intellectual property of the contestant.
• By submitting, contestants grant The Uncanny Experience permission to use the content for contest judging purposes. Winners grant a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and display their submission in connection with the contest activities.

Responsibilities of Contestants:

• Contestants assume all responsibility for their submissions and any consequences of submitting or posting them.
• Contest Sponsors reserve the right to verify the validity of entries and contestants’ compliance with the rules.
• Contest Sponsors may disqualify any contestant or entry not in compliance with the rules or acting in bad faith or unsportsmanlike manner.

Indemnification:

• Contestants agree to indemnify and hold harmless Contest Sponsors from any claims arising from violation of these rules, third-party rights, or any harm caused by the submission.
• These indemnification obligations will survive indefinitely beyond the contest’s conclusion.

Compliance and Privacy:

• The contest will comply with applicable U.S. law. In case of conflict between U.S. law and other laws, U.S. law shall apply.
• Contest Sponsors will protect personal information of contestants. Contact information may be used for future communications and shared as per legal guidelines.

Limitations of Liability:

• Contest Sponsors are not responsible for any loss, harm, or technical malfunctions related to participation in the contest.
• By participating, contestants and their guardians release Contest Sponsors from all claims related to participation.
• Contest Sponsors are not liable for any contest changes or cancellations due to external factors.

In order to enter this contest, participants must agree to these Official Rules. By entering this contest, participants agree to abide by these Official Rules.
